Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art, Doha, QatarDecember 5, 2011 - May 26, 2012Cai Guo-Qiang: Saraab showcased the artist’s diverse body of work, ranging from his signature gunpowder drawings to large-scale site-specific installations and the explosion event Black Ceremony. Saraab (“mirage”) featured more than fifty works, including sixteen newly commissioned pieces, thirty recent works and nine documentary videos.Cai Guo-Qiang: Saraab is curated by Wassan Al-Khudhairi, Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art Director. A component of the exhibition Black Ceremony, was an explosion performance by the artist Cai Guo Qiang.
